High-performance ram and cattle breeders in West Otago

We started Glendhu Genetics in 1995, and today our commercial operation includes two Shorthorn cattle studs and three sheep studs: Coopworth and Dorset Down, which run with alongside our breeding stock.

Our farming is set over 800ha of sheep and beef, 160ha of dairy country, rolling to steep. The livestock is made up of 5500 Ewes, 1200 Ewe Hogget, 250 Ram Hogget, 100 Dairy Heifers R2, 100 Dairy Heifers R1, 85 Stud Cows, 250 Fattening Cattle and 450 Milking Cows.

Our focus is on breeding strong genetics for high-

performance, low-cost stock that perform well for the farmer as well as meeting the demands of meat companies and markets throughout New Zealand.

Our breeding stock runs alongside our commercially focused studs as one mob, for their lifetime with us. Our sheep are on SIL records with the rams undergoing eye muscle scanning, while our cattle studs are recorded on ABRI.
